500 Rummy Basics
500 rummy, also sometimes called 500 rum or rummy 500, is a card game from the rummy family. The rummy family is a group of card games in which players draw and discard cards into and out of their hands in an effort to create groupings of cards called sets and runs, collectively known as melds. Players score points based on the melds that they create—in 500 rummy, the first player to reach 500 or more points before the end of play is declared the winner.
500 rummy is similar to gin rummy, the most common rummy game, and is a fun option for casual card players. It’s especially good for a large number of players—it can
accommodate up to eight players when using multiple decks.
