About This Drug
Aspirin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve mild-to-moderate pain and inflammation, to reduce fever, and to prevent the formation of blood clots.
Aspirin inhibits the release of substances called prostaglandins, which play a role in inflammation and pain. It also affects the temperature-regulation center in the brain to reduce fever and prevents the production of thromboxane in blood platelets, which inhibits the formation of blood clots.
