About This Drug
Betaxolol is a beta-blocker and antihypertensive drug used to treat open-angle glaucoma (high pressure in the eye) and high blood pressure. The ophthalmic form of betaxolol reduces the production of fluids in the eye and slightly increases the rate at which the fluids leave the eye. The oral form reduces blood pressure by reducing the rate and force of the heart’s contractions, which results in lower blood pressure.
