How to Care for Acrylic Surfaces
How to Clean Acrylic Surfaces
Clean acrylic with a few drops of mild dish detergent diluted in water or use a cleaner specially designed for acrylic. Don’t clean acrylic windows, bathtubs, or any other acrylic surface with cleaners containing ammonia, as
it can damage the surface over time.
How to Remove Stains from Acrylic Surfaces
Remove stains with products designed or approved for use on plastics. A solution of 1 part chlorine bleach to 1 part water will remove most stains. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleansers that might scratch the surface.
How to Maintain Acrylic Surfaces
About once a month, clean acrylic furniture with furniture polish to give it an added shine and to prevent dirt from settling onto the plastic and causing scratches.
How to Repair Acrylic Surfaces
Remove scratches from acrylic surfaces by using a mildly abrasive acrylic polish and buffing to restore shine. If cracks occur, the acrylic will almost certainly need to be replaced. Some manufacturers recommend drilling a 1/8" hole at the end of the crack to halt its progress.
