How to Buy Chestnuts
Chestnuts are almost always sold fresh, still in their husks. When buying fresh chestnuts:
- Look for: Chestnuts that are heavy and firm, with shiny, taut shells.
- Avoid: Soft, light chestnuts with dull, wrinkled shells. These chestnuts are no longer fresh and should be discarded.
