Getting Started

For this hat, half double crochet stitches are worked in the spaces between stitches, not in the tops of stitches. The first space is between the beginning chain of the previous round and the next half double crochet.

You Will Need

  • 180yd/165m of worsted weight mohair yarn in red/purple/orange multicolor
     
  • Hook, 4.5mm/G-7 or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • Always take time to check your gauge.
  • First 6 rnds = 4"/10cm diameter
  • 12 hdc = 4"/10cm

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch)
  • Double crochet (dc)
  • Half double crochet (hdc)
  • Slip stitch (sl st)

Materials Used in the Featured Hat

  • 2 balls of S.R. Kertzer’s Knit 1, Purl 2 Sublime, 78% mohair, 13% wool, 9% nylon, 1.75oz/50g = 109yd/100m, in color #4006, calypso sunset

Size
