Instructions
Hat
- Ch 3; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), work 5 hdc in ring; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (6 hdc).
- Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in first space between sts, *2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (12 hdc).
- Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in first 2 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts, *hdc in next space between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around to last space, skip last space; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (17 hdc).
- Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in first 3 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts, *hdc in next 2 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around to last space, skip last space; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (22 hdc).
- Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in first 4 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts, *hdc in next 3 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around to last space, skip last space; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (27 hdc).
- Rnd 6: Ch 2, hdc in first 5 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts, *hdc in next 4 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around to last space, skip last space; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (32 hdc).
- Rnd 7: Ch 2, hdc in first 6 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts, *hdc in next 5 spaces between sts, 2 hdc in next space between sts; repeat from * around to last space, skip last space; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2 (37 hdc).
- Rnds 8–12: Continue as established, working one more hdc between increases in each round (62 hdc).
- Rnds 13–27: Ch 2, hdc in each space around; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2.
- Row 28: Ch 1, sc in each space around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
First Earflap
- With right side of the hat facing you, skip the first 8 spaces following the join, join yarn with sl st in next space.
- Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), hdc in next 8 spaces between sts (9 hdc).
- Rows 2–27: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each space across.
- Row 28: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in first st, (2 dc in next st) across (18 dc).
- Row 29: Repeat Row 28 (36 dc). Fasten off.
Second Earflap
- With wrong side of the hat facing you, skip the first 8 spaces following the join, join yarn with sl st in next space.
- Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc here and throughout), hdc in next 8 spaces between sts (9 hdc).
- Rows 2–29: Repeat Rows 2–29 of first earflap.
- Fasten off.
Finishing
- Weave in all yarn ends.
