Getting Started
Crocheting can be used to make accessories as well as more traditional items. In this project, hemp thread is crocheted around cabone rings to create a colorful and unique belt.

Skill Level
- Beginner
You Will Need
- Approximately 63yd/57m multicolored hemp cord
- 2"/5cm diameter cabone rings (available at craft and fabric stores)
- Hook, 5.5mm/I-9 or size needed to obtain gauge
- Assortment of wooden beads
Gauge
- Always take time to check your gauge.
- The gauge for this project is variable, depending on the choice of yarn used: approximately 26 sc around each ring.
Stitches Used
- Chain (ch)
- Single crochet (sc)
Materials Used in the Featured Belt
- 3 balls of Elements’ Hemp Jewelry Cord, in Rainbow (#1490), approximately 21yd/19m each
If you'd like to modify this project to produce a belt that's a bit more sophisticated, replace the hemp with a silky or metallic thread. You can also cap off the ends with faceted glass beads, gemstones, or Asian silver beads.
Finished Measurements
- 15 rings will make a belt approximately 36"/91cm long
