Getting Started

Smooth bulky yarn, like the type used in this project, works up quickly and evenly. The smoother the yarn, the more definition you’ll see in the half double crochet and crossed double crochet patterns.

Skill Level

  • Experienced Beginner

You Will Need

  • 280yd/256m of bulky weight yarn in medium green
  • Hook, 6.5mm/K-10.5 or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 16-1/2"/42cm piece of heavy cardboard
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • Always take time to check your gauge.
  • 10 dc = 4"/10cm
  • 4-1⁄2 rows = 4"/10cm

Stitches Used

  • Chain (ch)
  • Half double crochet (hdc)
  • Double crochet (dc)
  • Crossed double crochet (cdc), Skip next st, dc in next st; working around dc just made, dc in skipped st.

Material Used in the Featured Scarf

  • 3 balls of Brown Sheep Company’s Lamb’s Pride Bulky Weight, 85% wool, 15% mohair, 3.5oz/99g = 125yd/114m, in color #M191, kiwi

Finished Measurements

  • 5" wide x 40" long with 16" fringe/13cm x 102cm with 41cm fringe
