About This Drug

Dextroamphetamine and the dextroamphetamine/amphetamine combination are central nervous system stimulants (amphetamines) used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy (an uncontrollable desire to sleep) and to control weight.

Dextroamphetamine/amphetamine and dextroamphetamine alone activate nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain, which increases alertness and reduces fatigue and drowsiness. When used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy, they improve mental concentration.
