Getting Started
Instead of buying different colors of sewing thread for each appliqué fabric, separate a piece of matching embroidery floss and use one of the six plies.
Special Stitch Used
Hidden Stitch
This is an invisible stitch used to close holes in pillows or toy animals after they’re stuffed. Use sewing thread that’s the same color as the fabric. You’ll be working from the outside, or right side, of the piece. Fold under the excess fabric (the seam allowances) along each side of the opening. Butt the folded edges together.
Thread a needle with matching sewing thread with a knot at the end. From the back of the fabric, insert the needle through one of the folded edges so the knot is trapped in the fold and the thread is on the outside of the fabric at a folded edge, at A (see figure 1).

Pull the needle and thread through the folded edge at B, directly across from A. Slide along the inside of the fold and pull the needle to the outside at C. This traps the stitch inside the fold. Insert the needle through the opposite fold, at D, which is directly across from C.
