Getting Started

Not all totes are created equal. Look around for the ideal bag—one that best suits your needs. Adding an artful arrangement of felt appliqués will give you a great excuse to practice your blanket stitch.

Skill Level

  • Easy

Materials

  • Scrap paper
  • 4 pieces of felt, measuring 9" x 12" (23 x 30 cm) each in a different color
  • 1 denim tote bag
  • 1 skein of black cotton pearl embroidery floss
  • Iron-on adhesive (ultra bond for felt)
  • Fabric glue
  • 1 package of multicolor sequin bangles

Tools & Supplies

  • 4 assorted round objects, ranging from 1" to 3-1/2" (2.5 to 9 cm) in diameter
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Straight pins
  • Large-eye embroidery needle
  • Ruler
  • Iron and ironing board
