Instructions

  1. Transfer the wood grain designs and pincushion patterns to the felt (patterns found at the end of the instructions).
  2. Embroider the designs. You don’t need to use a hoop with craft felt. Following the pattern lines, cut out each shape from the felt. Also cut a 2-1⁄2" (6.4 cm) diameter felt circle for the bottom.
  3. Butt together the short ends of the side fabric shape. Whip-stitch the ends together with one ply of brown embroidery floss (figure 1).

  4. Sew the bottom fabric shape to the lower edge of the side piece, again using whip stitches and a ply of brown embroidery floss (figure 2).

  5. Stuff polyester fiberfill into the partially assembled pincushion until you have a mound above the side.
  6. Sew on the embroidered top, using whip stitches and a ply of brown embroidery floss. Gently push on the fiberfill as you stitch (figure 3).
