How to Remove Muddy Odor from a Fish
Fish that live in muddy waters sometimes have a muddy odor. This odor does not at all indicate that the fish has gone bad, but many people do prefer to remove the odor. You can use one of three methods to remove this odor.
- Method 1: Soak the fish for 1–2 hours in a mixture of vinegar and water (1–2 tablespoons of vinegar per cup of water), changing the mixture several times.
- Method 2: Pour 1 tablespoon of vinegar into the mouth of the fish, closing the gills to prevent it from leaking out.
- Method 3: Add a little white wine or vinegar when the fish is cooking.
