Benefits of Homeopathy
People who choose homeopathic treatment instead of conventional treatment—or as a supplement to conventional treatment—do so for a variety of reasons. Among them:
- Homeopathic remedies are gentle: Homeopathic treatments are some of the gentlest and least invasive treatment options available.
- Homeopathic remedies are benign: The substances used in remedies are often benign, and, because they are highly diluted, don’t pose a threat even if mildly overdosed.
- Homeopathic remedies are inexpensive: Homeopathic remedies are generally less expensive than conventional drugs—however, most health insurance does not cover them.
Common Treatments
Homeopathy is commonly used to help treat people who suffer from:
- Anxiety and depression
- Insomnia
- Stomach and intestinal complaints
- Migraines
The list goes on and on, including everything from the most mild of health problems to very serious or life-threatening diseases. Anecdotal reports show that children are particularly responsive to homeopathy. As a result, childhood illnesses, such as ear infections and teething pain, are often treated by homeopathic means.
However, there is not yet any reliable scientific evidence showing that homeopathy works. Therefore, it should not be used as the only course of treatment—especially when a patient’s life is at stake.
