Binding Off

When you finish a project, you need to bind off so you can remove the knitted fabric from your needles without the whole piece unraveling. As with casting on, there are different ways to bind off. The following method is simple and creates a clean, decorative edge.
  1. Starting at the beginning of a row, knit two stitches, moving them from the left to the right needle.

  2. Slip your left needle into the front of the first stitch (the stitch on the right), and pull it over the second stitch and off the needle.

  3. Pull the left needle out of the stitch. You now have one stitch remaining on the right needle.

  4. Knit one more stitch and repeat steps 2–4 until you have only one stitch left and it’s on your right needle.
  5. Cut off your yarn, leaving a tail of at least 5". Thread the tail through the final stitch. Pull the tail tight, securing the final stitch so that nothing will unravel.
