How to Access Photoshop’s Red Eye Tool
Photoshop CS2 and later versions include a built-in Red Eye tool that can eliminate the
effects of red eye in just a few quick steps. The Red Eye tool is located near the top of Photoshop’s Tools palette in the same button that houses the Spot Healing Brush
tool. The Red Eye tool’s icon
is a red eye with a tiny crosshairs in the upper left corner. If you don’t see the Red Eye icon in the Tools palette, you can find it as follows:
- Click on the Spot Healing Brush tool’s icon
in the Tools palette and move your cursor to the right. - A submenu will appear to the right in which you can select the Red Eye tool. (You can also press Shift+J repeatedly to toggle among the Red Eye tool and the four other tools that occupy the same spot in the Tools palette.)
The Red Eye Toolbar
Once you select the Red Eye tool, the Red Eye toolbar will appear just under the main Photoshop toolbar at the top of your screen.

The Red Eye toolbar contains a few features unique to the Red Eye tool, each of which is explained later in this guide.
