Side Effects
Many people stop taking tacrine because of the side effects. Immediately report problems such as nausea, vomiting, loose stools, rash, fever, yellow eyes or skin, or seizures. If any side effects become persistent or severe, ask your health-care practitioner whether it is safe for you to continue taking this drug.
- Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, gas, abdominal pain, appetite loss, weight loss, headache, fatigue, dizziness, flushing, trouble sleeping, depression, confusion, agitation, anxiety, abnormal thinking, clumsiness, unsteadiness, rash, frequent urination, urinary tract infection, chest pain, upper respiratory infection, liver inflammation
- Less Common or Rare: hallucinations, tremor, weakness, hostile attitude, back pain, skin discoloration, purple or red spots on the skin, fever, yellow eyes or skin, seizures
