Balance Postures
Balance postures focus on shifting the center of gravity while entering and holding a new position.
Standing Knee-to-Chest

- Begin in Mountain Pose.
- Shift weight to left foot. Breathe.
- While exhaling, bend right leg, bringing knee to chest with interlaced fingers below kneecap.
- Hold and breathe.
- Release right leg and lower it to ground, returning to Mountain Pose.
- Repeat with other leg.
Natarajasana
Shiva Pose, Dancer’s Pose

- Start in Mountain Pose.
- Shift and balance weight on left foot.
- While inhaling, raise left arm with palm facing forward.
- While exhaling, bend right leg behind body while grasping inside right ankle with right hand.
- Hold and breathe.
- Release leg gently and return to Mountain Pose.
- Repeat on opposite side.
Vrikshasana
Tree Pose

- Begin in Mountain Pose.
- Shift weight to left foot.
- While inhaling, slowly release right foot from ground, placing it on left ankle, knee, or thigh.
- Rotate right knee to side.
- Enter Prayer Pose. Hold and breathe.
- Release raised foot.
- Return to Mountain Pose.
- Repeat with opposite side.
- Note: Arms can be at side or raised.
Cakravakasana
Balancing Cat

- Begin in Table Pose.
- While exhaling, extend right hand forward and left leg back.
- While inhaling, raise both right arm and left leg.
- Hold and breathe.
- Release and return to Table Pose.
- Repeat with opposite pairs.
